About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Academica Turistica –Tourism and Innovation Journal (AT–TIJ) is a peer-reviewed journal that provides a forum for the dissemination of knowledge on tourism and innovation from a social sciences perspective. It especially welcomes contributions focusing on innovation in tourism and adaptation of innovations from other fields in tourism settings.
The journal welcomes both theoretical and applicative contributions and encourages authors to use various quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Besides research articles, the journal also publishes research notes and reviews of books. Purely descriptive manuscripts which do not contribute to the development of knowledge are not considered suitable. We publish three issues per year.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Academica Turistica – Tourism and Innovation Journal that meet the journal’s technical requirements and align with its aims and scope are subject to a double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers.
Reviewer Selection and Evaluation
Reviewers are selected by the Editorial Team based on their expertise and subject relevance. Reviews are conducted anonymously, and reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors, nor are authors’ identities disclosed to reviewers.
In cases where substantial revisions are required, the manuscript will be returned to the author along with anonymized reviewer comments and a detailed list of required changes. Authors must resubmit a revised version along with a separate document outlining their responses to the reviewers’ comments.

Author Responsibilities
By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:
- manuscript is their original work,
- manuscript has not been published previously, and is not under consideration elsewhere,
- all sources and references are properly cited.
Manuscripts may be screened for plagiarism using appropriate detection tools.
Peer Review and Editorial Responsibilities
All submissions undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process. Editors and reviewers are expected to act with objectivity, confidentiality, and integrity. Reviewers assess manuscripts solely on academic merit and are encouraged to highlight any uncited relevant work. They must disclose any conflicts of interest, in which case the manuscript will be reassigned. Reviewers contribute to the journal on a voluntary basis.
Editors are responsible for the final publication decision. All authors will be notified of the outcome of their submission (accepted or rejected for publication). The editorial team aims to process manuscripts within three months from the date of submission.
Ethical Oversight
The journal does not tolerate research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, or unethical experimentation. In cases of suspected or confirmed misconduct, the journal or its editors will investigate in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and take appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
Open Access Policy
Academica Turistica – Tourism and Innovation Journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that unrestricted access to research fosters global exchange of knowledge.

Content published between 2008 and 2015 predates the journal’s open access policy. These issues remain accessible through the journal’s digital archive.
