About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Academica Turistica –Tourism and Innovation Journal (AT–TIJ) is a peer-reviewed journal that provides a forum for the dissemination of knowledge on tourism and innovation from a social sciences perspective. It especially welcomes contributions focusing on innovation in tourism and adaptation of innovations from other fields in tourism settings.

The journal welcomes both theoretical and applicative contributions and encourages authors to use various quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Besides research articles, the journal also publishes research notes and reviews of books. Purely descriptive manuscripts which do not contribute to the development of knowledge are not considered suitable. We publish three issues per year.

Peer Review Process

Each manuscript, meeting the technical standards and falling within the aims and scope of the journal, will be subject to double-blind review by two reviewers.

The referees are chosen by the Editorial Team. Assessments by the referees will be presented anonymously to the author and, in the case of substantial reservations, the article, with the list of corrections needed, will be returned to the author for correction. The corrected copy of the article with the list of corrections on a separate page should be returned to the Editorial Team.

All referees and editors in the peer review process follow the highest professional and academic standards (section Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement). Referees perform work for the journal on a volunteer basis; their judgements are objective and they evaluate manuscripts only for their intellectual content and point out to the relevant published work which is not yet cited; they are asked to report any potential conflicts of interest, and when those exist the manuscript is reassigned to a different referee.

The review process usually takes 3-6 months.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
